Fiscal Year End

Enter the initial year end date for the company’s fiscal year end.  This is used by Gravity to automatically create fiscal periods. 

Fiscal Period Type

Select the type of fiscal periods your company uses.

  • Calendar - Gravity automatically creates fiscal periods in the fiscal period table for calendar months based on the fiscal year end defined.
  • 4 Week - Gravity automatically creates fiscal periods in the fiscal period table based on 4-week periods.
  • 4-4-5 Periods - Gravity automatically creates fiscal periods in the fiscal period table based on the schedule of 4-week, 4-week then 5-week periods.
  • Custom - Fiscal periods must be manually maintained in the fiscal period Table.

Post to Sub-ledger

Post to sub-ledger controls whether sub-ledgers (purchasing, revenue, bank book) post to the GL. Post to sub-ledger is normally is checked f

or proper functioning of Gravity. 

Note: Clear the post to sub-ledger check box when importing historical data from an old system to prevent postings in the sub-ledgers from doubling

in the GL. A warning appears when posting in a sub-ledger if the post to sub-ledger flag is not checked.

Chart of Accounts Segments (Master Only)

Define the COA structure when initializing the company. Once defined, this structure cannot be changed.

This is defined in the Entity setup wizard.

The chart of accounts structure can be from 1 to 3 segments and up to 30 characters in total length. A minimum of 1 segment is required.

Structure options:

                    A = Alpha only characters.

                    # = Numeric Only characters

                    @ = Alphanumeric characters.

                    - = Segment separator. 

Examples:

####-####  =  4 numeric character main segment and a 4 numeric character sub-account.

####-####-AA = 4 numeric character main segment, a 4 numeric character sub-account followed by a 2 alpha character sub- account.

Show Source Entity Field on JE Line

When set to Yes the source entity that created a multi-entity Journal Entry will be shown on the Journal Entry grid

Cost on Investment Sale

When posting a sale transaction on an investment the cost can be the original cost of the investment or the current cost of the investment.

Budget by Dimension

When enabled the budget creation forms will show columns to add Dimensions to the budget created. See
